We apologise for our lengthy silence, it has been an exceptionally busy month with many unforeseen circumstance.
Over the past month several other organisations have faced logistical problems, this has meant our dedicated team on the ground have been stretched to their limit providing our usual range of services along with many others.
The Refugee Womens Centre sadly had to temporarily halt operations, while they are off the ground our team are currently taking responsibility for also providing tents and bedding to families. Over the last month the population has on occasion doubled in size over the course of just a few days, putting enormous strain on our resources.
After a brief hiatus in evictions at the end of last month, there have been two devastating operations in the last 10 days. Massive amounts of tents and personal belongings were once again destroyed.
The pressure on our team as the main supplier of tents and bedding to the community is huge. With hundreds of anxious people looking to keep themselves and their families safe and dry our volunteers on the ground are often faced with distressing scenes. It takes experience and composure to work in these situations and we applaud their hard work and commitment.
If you would like to be part of this amazing team, please get in contact. With autumn now approaching we are recruiting volunteers for the coming months and into winter. If you are interested please get in contact!
Geoff, who runs our woodyard and sanitation projects has been working at full capacity. He has continued maintaining these vital services but also supported the provision of drinking water into the camp while Roots were having logistical issues. The work that Geoff carries out within the site on a daily basis is invaluable and one that he needs support to maintain. If you feel up to the task and would like to help please get in contact!
All of this work has been made possible thanks to the support and generosity of HertsforRefugees and Catch a Smile
The donations from these incredible organisations enabled us to purchase our newest and largest edition to our fleet. With this larger van Geoff has already delivered hundreds of tonnes of wood, cleared hundreds of tonnes of waste and moved thousands of litres of drinking water.
As always we depend entirely upon on donations to maintain our many services and daily operations. If you are able to support our work, please do so via the link below!
Thank you all for your continued support.
